Functions: Clears damp-heat, promotes urination, dissolves stones, soothes the kidneys
Indications:
- Urinary tract infection, painful urination
- Kidney and bladder stones, gravel
- Edema from nephritis
- Hypertension with damp-heat pattern
- Gout and hyperuricemia
- Diabetes-related thirst and excessive urination (adjunctive)
Usage & Prescriptions
Dosage: Dried leaves 6-15g, infuse or decoct as tea, 1-2 times daily. Best taken between meals.

Kidney stones, gravel
Cat's Whiskers 15g, desmodium 30g, decoct daily for 4-6 weeks

Misai Kucing Kidney Tea
Daily Malaysian household tea taken to flush the urinary tract and prevent stones, especially in hot weather and for office workers who drink little water
Servings: Serves 2
Ingredients:
- •Dried Cat's Whiskers leaves 10g
- •Pandan leaf, 1 piece, knotted
- •Honey, optional
- •Water 700ml
Instructions:
- 1.Rinse the dried leaves
- 2.Bring water and pandan to a boil
- 3.Add the leaves and simmer 10 minutes
- 4.Strain into a teapot and let cool slightly
- 5.Sweeten lightly with honey if desired and drink warm
Caution
Avoid in pregnancy and in those with low blood pressure or low blood potassium. Not for use with strong diuretic drugs without supervision. Stop before surgery.
