Properties & Functions

Functions: Tonifies womb and astringes discharge, regulates blood sugar, supports postpartum recovery, mildly warms and invigorates

Indications:

  • Postpartum weakness and slow uterine recovery
  • Excessive vaginal discharge, leucorrhoea
  • Type 2 diabetes (adjunctive)
  • High blood pressure, mild hypertension
  • Low libido and reproductive weakness in women
  • Migraine and headache from blood deficiency

Usage & Prescriptions

Dosage: Dried leaves 5-10g, decoct as tea once or twice daily. Often paired with Kacip Fatimah for women's tonics.

Postpartum tonic and womb tightening

Mas Cotek leaves 8g, Kacip Fatimah 6g, decoct daily for 21 days

Type 2 diabetes adjunct

Mas Cotek leaves 10g, infuse and drink as daily tea

Excessive leucorrhoea

Mas Cotek 10g, plantain 10g, decoct twice daily

Mas Cotek Women's Tonic Tea

Gentle daily tea taken across the menstrual cycle to support womb health and balance blood sugar, popular in East Coast Malaysia

Servings: Serves 2

Ingredients:

  • Dried Mas Cotek leaves 8g
  • Pandan leaf, 1 piece, knotted
  • Rock sugar to taste
  • Water 600ml

Instructions:

  1. 1.Rinse the dried leaves
  2. 2.Bring water and pandan to a boil
  3. 3.Add Mas Cotek leaves and simmer 12 minutes
  4. 4.Stir in rock sugar to taste
  5. 5.Strain and drink warm, 1 cup daily

Caution

Avoid in pregnancy, especially first trimester. Monitor blood sugar if combined with diabetes medication, as it may increase hypoglycemia risk. Discontinue before surgery.
