Functions: Clears heart fire, relieves irritability, promotes urination

Indications:

  • Thirst from febrile disease

  • Scanty dark urine
  • Turbid painful urination
  • Oral ulcers and tongue sores
  • Swollen gums

Usage & Prescriptions

Dosage: Decoct 6-10g.

Blood in urine

Lophatherum & imperata root 10g each, decoct, one dose daily

Heat stranguria

Lophatherum 12g, juncus 9g, lygodium 6g, decoct daily

Clear heart and stomach heat

Phragmites & lophatherum 10g each, rock sugar to taste, steep in boiling water 15 min, drink as tea

Lophatherum Cooling Tea

Light cooling tea to clear heart fire and relieve irritability

Servings: Serves 1-2

Ingredients:

  • Lophatherum 10g
  • Reed root 10g
  • Rock sugar to taste
  • Boiling water 500ml

Instructions:

  1. 1.Place lophatherum and reed root in a teapot
  2. 2.Pour in boiling water
  3. 3.Cover and steep for 15 minutes
  4. 4.Add rock sugar, drink as tea throughout the day

Caution

Not for those without true fire or with spleen-stomach cold and frequent urination. Not for pregnant women.
