Properties & Functions
Functions: Clears heat and detoxifies, reduces swelling and relieves pain
Indications:
- Acute bacillary dysentery, gastroenteritis
- Common cold with fever, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, pneumonia
- Boils and carbuncles, wound infections
- Pulmonary tuberculosis
- Venomous snake bites
Usage & Prescriptions
Dosage: Decoct 9-15g, or grind into powder. External: apply decoction or powder paste.

Andrographis 10-15g, decoct and take
Oral inflammation, tonsillitis
Andrographis powder 3-5g, mix with honey, take with warm water
Lobar pneumonia
Andrographis & honeysuckle 20g each, houttuynia & oldenlandia 30g each, decoct

Andrographis Cooling Tea
Traditional cooling tea, suitable for hot weather or early-stage colds
Servings: Serves 2
Ingredients:
- •Fresh andrographis leaves 15g
- •Rock sugar to taste
- •Water 500ml
Instructions:
- 1.Wash the andrographis leaves
- 2.Bring water to boil, then simmer for 15 minutes
- 3.Strain and add rock sugar to taste
- 4.Cool before drinking, 2-3 times daily
Caution
Very bitter taste; may cause stomach discomfort and reduced appetite. Best taken in capsules or with sugar water. Use with caution if spleen and stomach are weak.
