Properties & Functions
Functions: Dispels wind and removes dampness, warms the middle and stops diarrhea, invigorates blood and disperses stasis
Indications:
- Wind-cold common cold
- Postpartum wind pain
- Dysmenorrhea
- Rheumatic pain
- Cold-damp diarrhea
- Abdominal pain with rumbling
- Bone/joint pain
- Bruises
- Ringworm
- Snake bites
Usage & Prescriptions
Dosage: Decoct 10-15g, fresh double. External: decoct to wash, or grind and apply paste.

Ngai camphor, castor leaves & acorus, decoct and wash externally
Dysmenorrhea
Ngai camphor root 30g, motherwort 15g, decoct
Rheumatic arthritis
Ngai camphor root & spatholobus 30g each, zanthoxylum 6g, decoct or soak in wine

Ngai Camphor Herbal Bath
Traditional postpartum or rheumatic herbal bath — very popular in Malaysia
Ingredients:
- •Fresh ngai camphor leaves, a large handful
- •Water, enough for bath
Instructions:
- 1.Pick fresh ngai camphor leaves
- 2.Boil a large pot of water with the leaves for 20 minutes
- 3.Let cool to comfortable temperature
- 4.Use as herbal bath or foot soak
- 5.Especially beneficial postpartum or for joint pain
Caution
Use with caution in yin-deficiency with blood heat.
